The Shimanoyama Treasure Hunt in Series 4 is easy to misunderstand because the chest does not simply sit on the map waiting to be found. You have to complete the clue first, and that means taking a drift car into one of the region's Drift Zones. Once you earn a three-star result, the game should reveal the search area. The reward is worth the effort, especially if you are saving up FH6 Credits for upgrades, tuning, or another car for the weekly playlist.
Complete the Drift Zone First
The clue talks about sliding through mountain peaks while tyre smoke rises, then mentions a perfect score. In practical terms, it is pointing you towards a Drift Zone in the Shimanoyama district. You need to earn three stars there. Any Drift Zone inside the region should work, so you do not need to search for one particular event before starting.
Do this before driving to the suspected chest location. A lot of players head straight for the garages, find nothing, and assume the hunt is broken. The chest usually will not appear until the three-star requirement has been registered. After the result screen appears, give the game a moment to update the map. You may also see a short camera sequence or a change to the highlighted hunt area.
A purpose-built drift car makes this much less frustrating. The Formula Drift Toyota GR Supra is a strong choice because it responds well when the road tightens up. The Nissan Silvia Spec-R S15 is another good option, particularly after fitting a 6.2-litre V8, Drift Springs and Dampers, a Drift Differential, and suitable drift tyres. Manual transmission helps here. Keep the car in third gear where possible, as the extra engine speed makes it easier to hold a steady slide through the hairpins.
Reach the Chest at the Circuit
Once the three-star result is secured, fast travel to the Shimanoyama Drift Circuit hub. From the start area, turn the camera towards the north. You are looking for a long line of grey concrete service garages behind the spectator and starting-grid sections. They are easy to miss if you stay focused on the main road, so slow down and use the buildings as your reference point.
Count the bays from left to right. The chest is inside the third garage. Its door should be partly raised, with a darker interior visible behind it. Drive into the bay and look near the yellow hydraulic engine hoist. The pink and gold Festival Treasure Chest should be sitting close by. You do not need a special interaction button; simply drive into it to open the chest and claim the reward.
The hunt pays 100,000 Credits, 5,000 XP, and three Series Points. That makes it a useful stop even if you are not particularly interested in the chest itself. The Credits can cover a round of tuning, while the XP helps with general progression. More importantly, the three points count towards the wider Series 4 reward track.
Try This If the Garage Is Empty
Sometimes the Drift Zone result is correct, yet the third bay still looks empty. This appears to be a session refresh issue rather than a problem with the route. Instead of driving around the district again, open the pause menu and move to the Online tab. Choose Horizon Solo, let the multiplayer session close, and then return to the Shimanoyama Drift Circuit.
Check the same third garage once more. Switching sessions often makes the seasonal chest load properly. If it is still missing, confirm that the result really showed three stars, then repeat the Solo switch and revisit the circuit. Once the chest has been collected, you can turn Horizon Life back on and continue with the rest of the playlist.
Use the Points Across Series 4
Three points may not sound like much, but they can make a real difference when you are close to a reward threshold. At 20 Series Points, the Exomotive Exocet Off-Road becomes available. Reaching 40 points unlocks the Datsun 2000 Roadster. The quickest approach is not to repeat one activity for hours. Mix the Treasure Hunt with the Mascot Madness championship, which gives another 10 Playlist Points when completed with an A-Class retro sports car.
There is also a useful photo task near the Hokuryu Sunflower Farm in the eastern part of Hokubu. Take a Japanese car, such as a Honda Civic Type R or Mazda RX-7, into the flower fields and use Photo Mode. Make sure both the vehicle and the flowers are in the frame. It is a quick extra reward and gives you a reason to explore that side of the map while working through the season.
Final Thoughts
The reliable order is simple: earn three stars in a Shimanoyama Drift Zone, wait for the map to refresh, travel to the Drift Circuit, and enter the third garage from the left. If the bay is empty, switch to Horizon Solo before trying the route again. With a controlled drift car and a little patience, the hunt takes only a few minutes and gives you useful progress towards the seasonal cars. Save part of the reward for future tuning, or use the option to buy Forza Horizon 6 Credits when you need extra funds for the remaining Series 4 events.
