That change hurt some classes hard — Paladin's Cathan's Iron Conviction Charms still don't seem to cover what it lost — but Barbarian got a cleaner path to scaling damage. I'm not sold on every part of the system. The charm hunt can feel clunky, and current sources still don't nail down the exact best Set Charm names or stat rolls for Barb's top two builds. Hammer of the Ancients is fine, even tanky, but you'll feel the drag during campaign chunks and Lord of Hatred quest list cleanup. Your first job is grabbing two or three Legendary Aspects that fix Fury, AoE, or movement; without them, the class still has that “wearing wet boots” problem.

What Barbarian builds are worth playing besides Whirlwind?

Rend is the sleeper I keep coming back to when boss fights annoy me. It isn't always S+ on Pit charts, but bleed damage has a nice way of working while you dodge garbage on the floor. HotA stays A-tier for players who want clean single-target burst, and Double Swing, Mighty Maelstrom, and Frenzy variants can clear plenty if your gear is sharp. Bash, Death Blow, Upheaval, and Flay? Fun in normal content, sure, but I wouldn't bet my high Torment push on them until tuning changes or someone finds tech the rest of us missed.

Barb also fits the wider meta better than most classes right now. Druid Companion and Rogue Penetrating Shot are strong, Warlock and Necromancer hang around the middle, and Paladin plus Spiritborn are having a rough patch in too many D-tier lists. If you're grouping, Sorcerer is the obvious buddy, especially when they're farming Raiment of the Infinite and you're stacking Diablo 4 Items (season 13) for better charm rolls and boss-ready gear. Get your build online, earn that Diablo 4 boss trophy, and don't be shocked if Blizzard swings the nerf bat next.
